Aristizabal studied Visual Arts at Miami International University of Art & Design, and worked with prominent figures like Federico Uribe, a renowned Colombian artist based in Miami. Early in her career, she frequently addressed Colombia's violent past, weaving these themes into her creative practice. In 2015, Aristizabal discovered a new medium of expression with native textiles, marking a pivotal moment in her artistic journey as she deepened her connection with Colombia’s natural resources, particularly the Fique plant (Furcraea andina), a native South American fiber integral to Colombian heritage which serves Aristizabal as both a material and a symbol of her broader mission to reconnect with Mother Earth.

Aristizabal’s practice has since focused on this versatile material, engaging with local communities to learn about the traditional processes and techniques involved in its transformation. Through her work, she aims to elevate autochthonous practices and native traditions, providing a platform for the voices of small producers and crafters. Her art is not only an aesthetic pursuit but also a vehicle for social change, advocating for fair labor conditions, sustainable farming, and the promotion of peace.
